Not far from Ambalavao (about 15km) you’ll find this incredible community-managed forest, where natural forest is nestled amongst huge rocks, which open out into several caves with extreme cultural importance. Here you also get the opportunity to get incredibly close to the ‘maki’ (ring-tailed lemurs) for whom the forest is home.
There are several fairly short circuits which are accessible for any ability, with the longest taking around 4 hours, meaning it makes a good day’s excursion from Ambalavao. Guides are provided by the local community who manage the tourism here.
